Music plays a part in my scene creations. Quite often a piece of music will trigger a deep seated emotion and bring with it a vivid image of what I would like to express. Getting it across is quite a task but listening over and over works for me.
This song, Yours by Ella Henderson, brought about the breakdown of barriers for my character, Jessica. She finally realised it was okay to love the man she tried to run from during the few weeks they’d known each other. Love has no timeline. I knew my love for my husband was strong. We met forty years ago and have been married 36 years on June 2nd. He walked into the room and I disliked his arrogance but now know this was nerves. We were 17 and 18 years old. My character is in her mid twenties and tries to avoid love. This is how I imagine she would express herself to Doctor Andreas.
Andreas loves Jessica. No doubt in his mind but he cannot get the courage to tell her and no matter how hard he tries, he gets it wrong. This song, Lay Me Down by Sam Smith, triggered several scenes. My poor doctor would express these words I am sure of it!
