Book Launch Birthday and Writing News

Halloween DelightI love Halloween and envy those in the USA and Canada who get to celebrate in style. The event is slowly catching on in the UK and I enjoy seeing homes lit with pumpkin candles. When I see one I am tempted to blow it out for no other reason than Halloween is also my birthday!

Eight years ago I came out of the closet as a writer of poetry and presented my first poetry book to friends and family. From My Heart Inside My Head was followed by Sticky Sandwiches. Both books are withdrawn from sale and are going through a revamp, however, I do add a poem or two to each book I write.

Today I reflected over the past eight years and realised how far I’ve come as an author. I’ve given public talks and attended various writing events, all of which have been wonderful. Last week I spoke at Kesgrave Library in Suffolk, and the press arrived. I always smile – until he decided to take the picture and my face froze like a deer in headlights! Never mind, Suzan Collins managed one.

I am interviewed over at author Peter Best’s website this week.

It occurred to me that this time three years ago, I was in Canada visiting my son and the inspiration for a scene in Ripped Genes (sequel to Ripper, My Love), came to me while visiting Seattle across the border. Time flies! Sadly, it is also that long since the passing of my father.

Dad would have been thrilled with my books, five novels written and more on the way! Eight years of pleasure, heartbreak and hard-work. So, I am delighted to announce that the ebook version of novel five, Heels and Hearts, is now available for pre-order and will be officially launched on my birthday!

H&H styledThis is a medical romance in the modern world, not my usual genre of Victorian romance. Readers asked for me to write more after the Christmas Scrubs short story was released last Christmas.

i think it’s great that you’re taking some time to look back and reflect, Glynis. That’s the way we see how much we’ve grown as writers. I’m happy for you that Maggie’s Child has been so successful for you, and I wish you much continued success.

Hi Glynis – congratulations on all you’ve done and developed into quite the author – it’s great that the ideas are happily consuming you and coming along. So sad about your father not seeing his little girl achieve her dream .. I hope you get to see your son again sometime soon.

I can’t quite get to grips with Halloween – I don’t like it squeezing out Guy Fawkes … enjoy the build up to your birthday .. cheers Hilary

  3. A good day to launch the book, Glynis!
